Who issues the permits
Inside the city limits, installation permits and inspections go through the City of Murrieta's Building and Safety division; the surrounding unincorporated areas (La Cresta, Tenaja, parts of the wine-country side) are handled by Riverside County.
What the lots are like
Murrieta has both: established neighborhoods where a backyard ADU is the practical move, and larger parcels toward La Cresta and the Santa Rosa Plateau where a CrossMod or a big double-wide on a permanent foundation makes sense.
